Photo Resizer – Change Width and Height

Resize camera photos by pixels or percent. Lock aspect ratio, preview, then download. Runs in this browser.

How to use Photo Resizer – Change Width and Height

  1. Drop one or more photos, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Choose pixels or percent. Keep lock-ratio on unless you want a stretch.
  3. Enter the width a form asked for, or a percent such as 50.
  4. Resize, then download a file or a ZIP.

What this tool accepts

  • Pixel and percent modes
  • Aspect lock

A photo resizer is the tool people open when a camera roll file is the right picture and the wrong box: too many pixels for a form, too few for a print, or simply not 1080 pixels wide for a blog.

This page is aimed at camera photos — portraits, products, travel shots — not at SVG logos or animated GIF. You set width and height in pixels, or scale by percent, with the ratio locked so faces do not squash.

Everything runs in your browser. IMG 4 FIX does not receive the original. That matters for family albums and ID scans you would not drop on a random upload site.

If you already know a named size (Instagram story, 3.5×4.5 cm, 50 KB), there are more specific URLs. Use this photo resizer when the instruction is simply “make it 800 pixels wide” or “half size.”

What is photo resizer?

Resizing changes the pixel grid. A 4000×3000 photo scaled to 800×600 has fewer samples; it draws smaller on a screen and usually weighs less in kilobytes even before you touch JPEG quality.

It is not cropping (that changes composition), not DPI conversion by itself (DPI only matters once you pick a print box), and not a filter. The output is the same picture, sampled to a new width and height.

How to use this photo resizer

Drop JPG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC files. Switch between pixels and percent. With lock-ratio on, height follows width. Percent is useful when a whole folder should become “half size” without doing math per shot.

Run resize, glance at the preview, download. A batch becomes a ZIP. If a portal still complains about megabytes, open Compress Image or a compress-to-N-KB landing next — do not hammer quality on a 6000-pixel original.

Why resize photos before you compress

JPEG quality sliders fight too many pixels. Cutting a 6000-pixel edge to 1600 px (a typical web hero) removes more bytes than dropping quality from 90 to 70 on the huge file, and the result usually looks cleaner.

Print is the opposite instinct: a 4×6 at 300 DPI wants about 1200×1800. Shrinking a photo to 400 px “to save space” will look soft on paper even if the JPEG is small.

Photo resizer for profiles, prints, and forms

Avatars: many apps want a square. Resize to the stated pixel box, or square-crop first if the portrait is not 1:1.

Documents: Indian exam and PAN notices mix centimeters, DPI, and KB. This page does pixels/percent. Pair it with the 3.5×4.5 cm or compress-to-KB tools when the PDF lists those numbers.

Social: Instagram feed 1080×1080 and stories 1080×1920 are cover-crops. If you need those presets, use the social resizer or Instagram no-crop page so you are not guessing.

Photo resizer vs image resizer vs compress

“Photo resizer” and “image resizer” are the same kind of job. This URL’s copy stays on camera rolls. The Image Resizer URL covers mixed graphics and percent math in more general terms. Compress Image keeps dimensions and spends quality instead.

Pick one path: set the pixel box here, then compress only if a kilobyte cap remains.

Frequently asked questions

What is a photo resizer?

It changes how many pixels wide and tall a picture is. That is different from compressing, which mainly changes JPEG quality and file kilobytes.

Does this photo resizer upload my pictures?

No. Scaling runs on a canvas in this tab. Close the page and the files are gone from memory.

Should I resize or compress to get under 50 KB?

If the photo is thousands of pixels wide, resize the long edge first. Then use a compress-to-50KB page if the portal still rejects the file.

Can I enlarge a small photo?

You can type a larger width. That interpolates pixels; it does not invent detail. For a dedicated 2× pass, use Upscale / Image Enlarger.

What size should I use for prints?

At 300 DPI, 4×6 in is about 1200×1800 px and 2×2 in is 600×600 px. Use the inch/cm landings if you think in paper sizes rather than pixels.

Does it work on iPhone HEIC photos?

When the browser can decode HEIC, yes. If a file fails, export JPG from Photos and drop that.
