Resize image is the general-purpose pixel job: a form asked for 800×600, a blog wants 1600 px wide, or a folder of shots should become half size. You are changing the grid, not JPEG quality.

Pixels vs percentage

Pixels are for platforms that publish exact sizes (YouTube 1280×720, a square 1080×1080 feed). Percentage is for “make this 50% smaller” when you do not care about a round width.

Lock ratio unless you are stretching into a non-native slot on purpose. If only one dimension is filled, the other is computed from the original aspect ratio.

Resize vs compress vs crop

Resize changes the pixel grid. Compress changes encoding quality. Crop throws away edges. Most “reduce image size” jobs need resize then compress.

Crop if the composition is wrong for the slot — a landscape photo going into a square avatar — then resize to the stated box.

Does resize image reduce file size?

Usually yes, because fewer pixels encode to fewer bytes. For extra savings, compress after you resize.

Will the photo look blurry if I upscale?

Enlarging cannot invent real detail. Use Upscale Image for a dedicated 2× pass, or keep the original resolution when you can.

What if I only enter width?

With lock-ratio on, height is computed from the original aspect ratio so faces do not squash.

Is resize the same as crop?

No. Resize keeps the whole scene on a new grid. Crop throws away edges. Square avatars often need both.

Can I resize a batch?

Yes, up to the site limit. Each file uses the same pixel or percent settings, then you can ZIP the results.

Does this change print centimeters?

This page thinks in pixels and percent. For 3.5×4.5 cm or 2×2 in, use the print-size landings so DPI is part of the math.
