Watermark queries are about proof and ownership: sending a preview to a client, posting a portfolio, marking “SAMPLE”. Text in the corner with 40–60% opacity is enough to deter casual reuse without ruining the shot.
Where to place it
Center is hardest to crop out. Corner is less ugly on hero images. Repeat-pattern watermarks are stronger but noisier — start with one line of your site name.
